From the very beginning, Asili has been about getting world-class quality services to communities. We’ve followed through on that promise with water facilities and healthcare clinics that not only work, but offer never before seen quality. But now, we’ve focused our efforts on making sure that communities not only have access to our services, but that everyone in those communities can afford them.
Introducing our third party payor system.
This new system, going into effect in April, will serve the people that would otherwise not be able to access Asili. And, it does so without making a distinction between them and regularly paying customers when they come to the clinic.
How?
First, we adopted criteria set by the government of Congo, which uses set categories to determine those who have the most difficulty providing for themselves. This includes orphans, people with disabilities, widows, and people that are over the age of 70 and living on their own. Then, we sent out our staff to find those people in our communities, maintaining a list of customers and adding individuals when necessary. And finally, those names are added to our Asili membership list. Their account will appear as fully paid – no potentially embarrassing explanations necessary.
Will this affect the business? Right now, the third party payor system is set up as a philanthropic fund – a subsidy generously provided by those have decided to give to Asili. The subsidy targets the individual rather than the business, drawing down based on the usage by individuals. This means that the enterprise will continue to focus on delivering the most valuable experience to customers, regardless of who pays their bill.
Part of Asili’s brand promise is doing right by the people we serve, going above and beyond to do the very best we can, for everyone. That’s why we’re so excited to see this come to fruition – and bring new members into the Asili family.
