We’re so excited to announce that our effort to enroll over one million out of school children in Pakistan has officially begun!
With one of the highest populations of out of school children in the world at 5.6 million, Pakistan is ready for change.
Over the course of three years, we’ll work together to reach and enroll children into quality primary education, engaging with local communities, educating parents, constructing new schools, training teachers, and designing solutions that work. And, we’ll do it all in partnership with the Education Above All Foundation.
The Qatari Foundation “Education Above All” and Alight signed an agreement to support the Federal Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to educate one million children throughout Pakistan.
In a ceremony to commemorate the occasion, Managing Director of Elementary & Secondary Education Foundation (ESEF) in Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ahmad, said that his agency and Alight would work together to achieve their shared goals of education for all.
Dr. Tariq Cheema, Alight Pakistan’s Country Director, leads the team’s efforts. He plans to reach more children than ever before through formal and non-formal schools, talented teachers, and programs designed to work for families.
With the signing of the agreement, Pakistan has become the largest recipient of the State of Qatar’s commitment to educate 10 million children worldwide!
Congrats to Dr. Cheema and the Alight team in Pakistan! Stay tuned for more as we dive in and do something bigger and better for kids!
