Teaching new skills and techniques for hairstylists at Umpiem Mai

    Day 169

    A New ‘Do

Thanks to the HAUS Salon team all the way from Minneapolis, the hair stylists at Umpiem Mai have the right tools and some new ideas for their growing business – now it’s time to focus on the haircutting itself!

On Day 169, Charlie, Lindsey, Sarah, Natalie, and Mary did a deep dive into all things stylings. From hair coloring, to cutting, to men’s haircuts and women’s, the eager students soaked it all in.

Lindsey and Sarah took charge of teaching hair coloring to the group. Unsurprisingly, the language barrier proved to be a bit of a challenge when going through the different color techniques, so they got creative. They lined the students up from the darkest hair shade to the lightest hair shade to illustrate levels 1 through 10 in the hair color theory workshop. And it worked! Everyone loved it.

Natalie and Sarah led the men’s haircutting class. They got the chance to talk to many stylists who wanted to focus on barbershops – one student was opening a barbershop called Freestyle Barber Shop. He’s already made his own business cards and is ready to go!

The team also tackled updos, styling, and other tips. The students will be ready to cover any request that comes their way!

It’s not often that the hairstylists at Umpiem Mai get an opportunity to learn new skills for their business. So this was a special event for them, something that they’ll bring with them no matter where they go.
