The refugees living at Umpiem Mai camp have a challenge ahead. Very soon, they need to leave the home they’ve known as refugees for the past few decades and return to Myanmar, where they’ll begin again. This will be a tough transition – even successful businesspeople at the camp will need to start from scratch. What they need now is all the support they can get to make that transition just a little easier.
The HAUS Salon team visiting from Minneapolis plays a very important role in all this – for refugees who own their own hair salons at Umpiem Mai, having a stronger skill set will make them all the more likely to succeed once they go back home. The HAUS team and their students worked really hard over the past few days to teach these folks the tools of the trade. And now, it’s time to give the stylists official recognition of their efforts, something that they can hang proudly in their salons. And something they can use to boost their business.
Certificates!
Charlie, Lindsey, Sarah, Natalie, and Mary organized an end-of-training ceremony to celebrate and recognize the incredible work of the students and present them with their certificates.
Everyone was all smiles as they stepped up to be honored. Coming from the highly skilled and award-winning team from HAUS, the recognition meant a lot.
It’s something small, but sometimes taking a moment to recognize these talented entrepreneurs – who have faced and overcome so much – can mean everything. Now, they’ll have that extra lift in confidence, and something to show off their skills, as they prepare to go back home.
