Hello, hello! We’ve got just a few more days in El Salvador, and we want to make them special.
To do that, we’ve been reflecting on some of the ideas that the youth in Apopa and La Chacra came up with during our ideations with them.
Something that came up, again and again, was a desire to be active. The students already spend much of their day sitting in desks, explaining why they were so eager to try out the power tools and work on a photo series for the space.
In this same vein, we knew it would be harder to find something more popular and exciting than new soccer balls, so we went ahead and picked up a few. The kids in Apopa had a worn-out one that looked like it was nearing the end of its time, but the La Chacra group didn’t have any. So, we got soccer balls for both groups, and the La Chacra group quickly scurried up to the basketball court that doubles as a soccer pitch to play before our next activity.

Meet Sam!
Sam developed an interest in forced displacement, food insecurity, and identity while working on her master’s degree. She’s now using this knowledge to support Changemakers 365 across our country programs. When she’s not off on a work trip, she’s busy fermenting beverages, training for half marathons, or listening to podcasts at her home in Minneapolis.
