The main role of the police force in Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement is to keep people safe. This applies to both daytime and nighttime, when crimes can happen under the cover of darkness.
But without a reliable light source, keeping the peace can be a challenge. When someone comes to the police station when the sun goes down, officers can’t properly assess the situation when they can’t see well.
We knew lights are important, but we also know that power keeps everything going. So, we combined the two needs – and solved both.
Equipping the police station with a solar panel was a way to power up the lights and give the officers a way to charge phones and computers.
It’s amazing how much these hardworking officers are able to do with such limited resources. They’re already working around the clock – this will just help them see their work a little clearer.
